AVL sponsored PhD opportunities

We are delighted to welcome AVL, who are co-sponsoring 13 PhDs in the CDT, to come and talk about their opportunities.

October 08 2021

The CDT is a ‘hybrid think-and-do tank’ that brings together students from across the disciplines to work collaboratively as a cohort, combining depth and breadth of knowledge across the mobility ecosystem.

Industry collaboration is integral to our education and research programme and we are delighted to welcome AVL, who are co-sponsoring 13 PhDs in the CDT, to come and talk about their opportunities.

AVL is the world's largest independent company for the development, simulation and testing of powertrain systems, their integration into the vehicle as well as new fields like ADAS/AD and Data Intelligence.

The agenda for the event is:

Session 1

10:00 Welcome & Introduction to the AAPS CDT and AVL research collaboration

10:30 PhD topic presentations

  • Energy optimized Testing inside E-Drive Testing Facility
  • Towards new statistical modelling techniques combining expert knowledge and experimental data for propulsion systems
  • Automated generation and parametrization of physics-based propulsion system models
  • System Identification with Black Box Models

11:30 Coffee Break

Session 2

11:45 PhD topic presentations

  • Testbed.CONNECT: Configuration of Simulation Parameters
  • Testbed.CONNECT: System Reliability
  • Torque Prediction of E-Machines
  • Anomaly Detection and Self-healing of AVL Testbed Systems

14:00 Networking and Drinks

You are welcome to attend just one or both sessions – please sign up through the link.
